VINTAGE TRAINS ON DEMONSTRATION SIDING

At Bere Ferrers Railway Station a Heritage Centre is being established to offer a glimpse of times past. Our collection of railway rolling stock is being externally restored/refurbished to offer the unique experience for on board reception, dining and sleeping facilities.

The Victorian station, opened in 1890, includes an earlier LSWR signal box rescued complete with its interior fittings while the 'Booking Hall' hosts mementos of the line's past history.

Artefacts include a yard crane, turntable and pump trolley, whilst climbing aboard the Guards Van you can flag the driver of one of our vintage locos to shunt goods wagons in the sidings.

Development of the site incorporates recycled materials in a sustainable manner, and our future plans include converting the railway goods wagons at the rear of the site to house a Heritage Group Shop, small relics museum and a model railway.

This project has been possible as a result of support from:

The Key Fund (Community Council of Devon)
West Devon Borough Council
